Litchfield HS Seniors and FCCLA Chapter Members Carli Christensen, Hannah Schacherer and Meghan Stordahl (pictured right) created holiday themed activities to teach correct handwashing procedures using "SSSRD" as their mnemonic ("Soap, Scrub, Sing, Rinse, and Dry") throughout their school community. School Nurses Comment on Reducing Germs and Improving Student Health

ACI met with many of the 1500 attendees at the National Association of School Nurses’ 49th Annual Conference. Nurses were asked to provide comments about their concerns were about student health and why teaching handwashing is important. Two of the nurses shared that germ reduction is important to school nurses "because it affects student attendance" and "healthy kids are great learners!" ACI also shared information about Healthy Schools, Healthy People plus free resources including Hooray for Handwashing.Read more...

Accident Prevention, Germ Reduction and Sustainable Living Behaviors

ACI is a longtime supporter of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), and exhibited at the 2017 FCCLA National Leadership Conference in Nashville, TN. During the Conference ACI provided free educational materials on liquid laundry packet safety. Attendees also learned how their chapters could earn national recognition for their schools by participating in the Healthy Schools, Healthy People, It’s a SNAP, a joint initiative of ACI and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that promotes germ reduction and disease prevention through creative hand hygiene projects. ACI gained valuable insight into the laundry behaviors of attendees by way of a laundry survey that was taken by more than 1,000 students and chapter advisers.

Promoting Accident Prevention and Supporting Student Service Projects!

ACI was in Dallas, Texas to share accident prevention information with Family and Consumer Sciences Professionals, strengthening our partnership and exploring new ways to ensure that accurate information is communicated. ACI also supported AAFCS’s ongoing effort to give back to community. The Family Gateway in Dallas was the recipient of AAFCS’ efforts and received laundry packets that will do more than 3,000 loads of laundry for the homeless in the Dallas community; Family Gateway provides stability and support to children and families affected by homelessness. 

Home Safety Presentation and Exhibit at Safe Kids Worldwide Conference

Nancy Bock, ACI Senior VP, Education, was a featured speaker at Safe Kids Worldwide's Childhood Injury Prevention Convention, known as PREVCON. "Home Safety: Helping Families Protect Kids Where They Live" was presented by Bock, Commissioner Robert Adler of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Carol Ann Giardelli from Safe Kids New Jersey. Panelists discussed the various risks that can be found in an everyday home and how parents can better protect their kids and safeguard where their children eat, live and sleep. ACI also exhibited at the conference to share the PACKETS UP! laundry packet safety campaign and ACI's free resources with attendees.

ACI was in Omaha, Nebraska to share insights with Extension Professionals to help increase their teaching capacity and stimulate the curiosity of their clients. We also presented the 2017 Clean and Healthy Families & Communities Award.
